Puppy love

Melbourne Weekly – Eastern; Tuesday, 21 December 2010

It’s hard to believe someone could give away this gorgeous three-year-old Samoyed, but over Christmas and January, RSPCA Burwood will receive thousands of dogs like Jane, says shelter supervisor Katrina Webb. More than 6000 dogs and 10,000 cats and kittens wind up at RSPCA Burwood every year and more than half of them arrive on their doorstop over summer. “We try to remind people that pets are for life, not just for Christmas. We also encourage people to make sure their pets are microchipped and desexed,” she says. If you’re looking for a furry friend, RSPCA Burwood has a huge variety of pets available for adoption all of which are desexed, vaccinated, wormed and microchipped.
