Vet students banned from inhumane operations on dogs

QUEENSLAND veterinary students will soon be banned from carrying out “inhumane” terminal operations on live dogs, following public outcry over the procedures.

As reported in The Courier-Mail, about 300 healthy dogs are anaesthetised, operated on and then euthanised every year to further the education of students at the University of Queensland. READ MORE HERE

‘The dogs were doomed’: University defends vet training

The University of Queensland has denied destroying healthy dogs so veterinary students could learn how to perform surgery.

The university has come under fire from animal rights campaigners who claim the Logan City Council is providing the institution with healthy, behaviorally sound dogs for students to carry out surgical procedures. READ MORE HERE
