Buckley the dog finds a home, saves 300 other dogs

Cheryl Critchley , Herald Sun , September 27, Victoria

The plight of Buckley the bitzer has helped save hundreds of other dogs, with the 300 animal lovers who missed out on adopting him agreeing to take others.

Buckley, who had his ears and tail hacked off in a vicious attack, yesterday started a new life with lucky owner Madeleine, the young Melbourne woman chosen to raise him.

Lost Dogs Home general manager Sue Conroy said Madeline was a lifelong dog lover and had nursed several elderly dogs.

She also had good family with dogs who could run with Buckley on nearby beaches.

Since Buckley’s plight was raised in July the Lost Dogs Home has had thousands of calls and “sold out” of dogs every weekend.  Enough money was also donated to fund a scholarship for vet and psychological care for the rest of his life.
